Congratulations on your upcoming Wedding!!!!

There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing in the joy filled experiences of your lives. You show me great honor by allowing me to be a part of these intimate encounters.

As an ordained Universal Unitarian minister and a student of numerous Native American traditions, I bring a variety of traditions to choose from for each of these milestones of your lives.

I am also excited that I can now officiate, legally, same gender marriages here in Pennsylvania, Maryland,  West Virginia, and the District of Columbia!

Finding the right officiant for your wedding ceremony?

Finding the individual to officiate your wedding can add stress to an already stressful planning cycle.  Below is some information and questions to help you make this decision.

First, start this search soon after the wedding date has been set. Confirming an officiant early allows you time to get to know the officiant and develop a relationship which will put everyone at ease as your wedding day approaches.

Next, decide what type of ceremony you want, a religious ceremony, a spiritual but not overly religious ceremony,  a ceremony filled with fun, or maybe more of a civil ceremony. Making this decision before starting your search for the officiant helps to provide boundaries for your search, helping you to find the perfect officiant for the type of ceremony you want.

There are numerous places to find an officiant; i.e. the web with sites like WeddingWire.com, TheKnot.com, Craigs List; calling local churches, talking with a wedding planner, and asking friends for recommendations. Once you have found several options reach out to those officiants with a few questions.

Here are a few questions to ask to ensure a good fit between you and the officiant.

a. What is the officiant's philosophy for a wedding ceremony?
b. What will the ceremony entail?
c. Is the officiant open to you as a couple adding personal touches to the ceremony?
d. Does the officiant give any type of speech or sermon during the service?
e. Does the officiant have a set fee and if so, what is it based on and what is it.

Blessings on your search for the perfect officiant for your wedding!!!
